Engineer Forward Deployed Engineer at Clariti

Forward Deployed Engineer owns technical customer onboarding end-to-end, including data migration, system integration, custom code development, and feedback loops between implementations and product development.

Senior Posted about 12 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Join our mission to provide governments with exceptional experiences so they can do the same for their communities!

What do we do?đŸ’„

We empower governments to deliver exceptional citizen experiences.

Check out our ‘About Us’ page for a deep dive into our product and what makes us exceptional.

How will you help us make an impact? đŸ‘©â€đŸ’»đŸ‘šâ€đŸ’»

Clariti builds software that helps local governments modernize permitting and community development. Every new customer arrives with a decade of legacy data, an incumbent system to migrate off, and legal time limits that cannot reset. Historically, implementations in this industry are slow, manual, and consulting-heavy. We’re building a fundamentally different way of implementing: engineering-led, tooling-driven, and measured in weeks instead of months. You are our first Forward Deployed Engineer. You will define the role, the playbook, and the bar for everyone who follows. You will report directly to the CTO.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Clariti, you’ll get to :

  • Work alongside the Implementation Consultant to triage requirements into configurations, new functionality or custom code as needed. Understanding the trade-off for each category and prioritizing scalability and reusability.
  • Work with our SaaS platform development team to define new functionalities so they are ready for go-live.
  • Own the technical side of new customer onboarding end to end: legacy data extraction, field and workflow mapping, transformation authoring, staging dry-runs, delta review with the customer, and production cutover with full data-integrity guarantees.
  • Sit with city staff, clerks, and building officials; translate how a jurisdiction actually operates into product configuration; case types, workflows, fees, templates, permissions.
  • Write real code: migration transformations, integration adapters (GIS/parcel, payments, SSO via SAML/OIDC), and one-off extraction tooling against legacy systems.
  • Run point on customer-side technical stakeholders: IT directors, GIS teams, security reviews, SSO setup with municipal Entra/Okta tenants.
  • Be the loudest feedback channel in the company: every manual workaround you perform becomes a spec for tooling or product capability, not tribal knowledge.
  • Build the FDE playbook (runbooks, mapping templates, extraction scripts, estimation models) so hires two through five ramp ups in days.
  • Use AI coding agents as a first-class part of the job; our engineering organization is AI-native and we expect implementation work to be too.

What do you bring to the team? 🧠

  • 5+ years as a software engineer, with at least 2 in a customer-facing deployment role (FDE, solutions architect, solutions engineer at a data-heavy company, or implementation engineer who writes production code, not a configurator).
  • Strong understanding of LLMs and agentic automations.
  • Strong SQL and data-migration instincts: you’ve untangled an undocumented legacy schema and gotten the data out clean, with an audit trail.
  • Strong TypeScript; comfortable in Python for throwaway extraction tooling.
  • Integration depth: SSO (SAML/OIDC), REST/webhooks, ideally GIS (Esri/parcel data) and payments.
  • Genuine comfort in front of non-technical government customers; you can run a data-mapping sign-off with a city clerk and a security review with their IT director on the same day.
  • Judgment about the bespoke-vs-repeatable line: you know when to hack it and when to turn it into tooling everyone uses.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites as needed.

Bonus Points 🎉

  • Govtech, regtech, or other compliance-heavy vertical SaaS experience; you understand why a permit’s legal review clock can never reset during a migration.
  • Palantir/Scale/Retool-style FDE background, tempered with product-company instincts.
  • Experience being the first of a function and building the playbook.
  • Heavy, sophisticated use of AI coding agents in real delivery work.

What Success looks in one year:

  • A cohort of customers implemented under the new model, live with zero data-integrity incidents and fully auditable migrations.
  • Implementation timelines cut dramatically against our historical baseline, and measured.
  • A repeatable FDE playbook that lets us hire the second FDE against a defined bar.
  • A steady stream of tooling and product improvements shipped from your field reports.

What’s in it for you?đŸ«”

We invest in and empower our team members with competitive compensation packages, well deserved time off and benefits to keep you and your family healthy! *

💰 The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $$115-155k CAD based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications while considering internal pay equity and our broader pay philosophy. 💰

If you have questions about compensation as we move through the process, we’re happy to discuss further.

*Benefits depend on employment type (full-time, part-time, contract, etc).

Things to Note 📝

Background checks - Because our customers trust us with sensitive information, we require all successful candidates to undergo comprehensive background checks before joining our team. We focus strictly on global sanctions and criminal offences that are directly relevant to employment at Clariti, and follow all applicable privacy and human rights legislation.

Travel- Although we operate as a remote company, all roles are expected to participate in occasional travel for in-person company-wide or departmental meetings, typically 1-2 times per year. Additional travel requirements specific to the role, if any, will be outlined in the job description.

We’re committed to building an inclusive culture where our team members take ownership over projects, tasks, and outcomes; bring a growth mindset to drive continuous learning and self-development; have the ability to communicate courageously in a direct but respectful way; and are customer-focused by keeping the customer at the heart of decision-making. It’s the diversity of our team that helps us make better decisions, by leveraging the diversity in thought & experience across to create impactful solutions as we explore new paths & challenges as we grow. We’re working to create a workplace and team that is as diverse as the communities we serve. We welcome and encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.

Questions? We are here to help

If you require accommodations in completing an application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in our hiring process for any reason, please direct your questions to hr@claritisoftware.com and we’ll be happy to support you.

Engineer Senior QA Engineer at BrainPOP

Senior QA Engineer who owns quality assurance for critical identity and account systems, develops test automation strategies using Playwright, and leads QA efforts for high-stakes platform initiatives.

Senior Hybrid Posted about 12 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

For over two decades, BrainPOP has been trusted by educators and parents worldwide as a source of engaging and impactful learning experiences for all kids. With a presence in over two-thirds of U.S. districts through school and district subscriptions and an estimated annual reach of 25 million students, BrainPOP is empowering kids to take agency over their learning and excel in and out of the classroom.

The company was acquired in 2022 by KIRKBI, the family-owned holding and investment company of the LEGO brand, marking a significant milestone as their first acquisition in the digital learning realm. We are thrilled to continue making learning fun and accessible with the strategic guidance and support of KIRKBI.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Quality Assurance, the Senior QA Engineer will join a squad (engineers and a product manager) that owns core identity and account systems powering the product, ensuring users can securely access and move through the platform. You’ll bring technical expertise, a leadership mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement to drive quality engineering through scalable test automation and API validation. You will own quality for the squad’s work, develop a deep understanding of the surface area to advocate for customers, and evolve critical automation infrastructure, with particular focus on our Playwright-based testing framework.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will work independently on business-critical projects and lead QA efforts for complex, high-stakes initiatives. This squad’s systems sit upstream of login, access, and data sync for every user on the platform, so reliability here has outsized impact. Your contributions are measurable at the company level: faster and more reliable delivery cycles, earlier defect detection, fewer production regressions, and greater confidence in release quality. Whether through advancing automation coverage, refining test strategy, or scaling tooling, your work helps teams ship with greater speed and fewer surprises.

The preferred candidate will be within commutable distance of our NYC HQ and spend at least one day in the office weekly. Candidates based in the Eastern time zone may also be considered.

You Will:

  • Leadership & Influence: Shape test strategy in partnership with engineering and product leadership, and influence decisions that affect delivery speed, stability, and user experience on business-critical initiatives.
  • Technical Ownership: Own and advance key parts of BrainPOP’s test automation ecosystem, with a focus on our Playwright framework. Improve coverage, reliability, and speed through maintainable, scalable code and infrastructure.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. Participate in onboarding, architectural reviews, and initiatives that raise engineering standards across teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing: Champion quality engineering best practices through documentation, internal tech talks, and process refinement. Surface and introduce tools, workflows, and patterns that raise the bar org-wide.
  • System Quality & Risk Management: Own the health of the end-to-end system. Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve issues, escalating when needed, so releases ship fast and with confidence.

You Are

  • An articulate communicator with sharp analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Energized by finding, regressing, and resolving issues before they reach customers.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously and a genuine team player.
  • Curious about emerging technologies and quick to evaluate how they can strengthen QA processes.
  • Confident navigating ambiguity, strategic about when to escalate, and able to influence outcomes across squads through reliability and presence.

On Your Resume

  • 4-6 years testing complex web-based applications, including preparing, documenting, and executing test criteria, test cases, test scripts, and test plans across the full product development lifecycle.
  • 4-6 years writing and executing automated tests in JavaScript with a modern test automation framework; hands-on Playwright experience strongly preferred.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted tools in your day-to-day testing workflow — e.g., using tools like Claude Code to generate test scaffolding, accelerate debugging/triage, or build lightweight internal tooling that speeds up QA work.
  • Experience testing authentication, authorization, or identity-adjacent systems (SSO, OAuth/SAML, session management, permissions) and/or systems that integrate with third-party platforms (LMS rostering, CRM, payment processors) strongly preferred.

Location

The BrainPOP team operates in a hybrid work environment: Each role has remote flexibility and an in-person component at our New York headquarters or other meeting locations. Based on the requirements of a specific role, we may prioritize hiring within a commutable distance of our New York headquarters or in another region relevant to that role.

We can employ individuals residing in the following approved hiring states:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Massachusetts
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Washington

We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. We have competitive pay bands for all other countries based on market standards. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. Based on these factors, we expect most of the candidates offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description, as posted. If so, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Senior Machine Learning Operations Engineer to join Hungryroot’s Data Science team. Our team owns the production systems that power grocery recommendations and box personalization for Hungryroot customers.

Our platform combines Python services, FastAPI APIs running on AWS, Spark pipelines on Databricks, and machine learning models that feed a real-time decisioning engine. • Strengthen engineering foundations across a growing codebase: automated testing, type checking, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, documentation, and thoughtful system design.
  • Profile data-heavy services and pipelines; reduce execution time and memory footprint where it matters.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, operations researchers, and product engineers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in MLOps, ML engineering, or DevOps with a focus on production ML infrastructure.
  • Strong Python and SQL; Bash for automation and tooling.
  • Experience designing and operating backend services and APIs (e.g., FastAPI) with attention to reliability, latency, and scalability.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark (jobs/workflows, Unity Catalog a plus) and MLflow or comparable model lifecycle tooling (registry, versioning, experiment tracking).
  • Experience building CI/CD for ML or data systems (Git, GitHub Actions/Jenkins, Databricks Asset Bundles) and infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar).
  • Solid AWS fundamentals: IAM, networking, compute/cluster management, containerized workloads (Docker; ECS or EKS).
  • Experience with production observability: metrics, logging, alerting, and ML-specific monitoring like data quality and model drift

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with recommendation, personalization, or operations research systems — especially productionizing them.
  • Experience with optimization solvers and OR tooling (e.g., Gurobi, OR-Tools) alongside data science or operations research teams.
  • Experience integrating experimentation and feature-flag platforms (e.g., Statsig) into production ML services and data pipelines, ideally with warehouse-native setups on Databricks.
  • Feature store experience (Databricks Feature Store, Feast, Tecton) serving consistent online/offline features.
